May 2017
Dear Friends,
Spring has started cold and rainy in Vermont -- perfect stitching weather! If I can help with any of your stitching needs, please let me know. I'm happy to mail.
I guess our Mr. President Thomas Jefferson had the best interests of his daughters in mind: "Both girls were taught music, dance, literature, languages, drawing, and needlework. The latter, Jefferson thought, was particularly useful for a plantation wife. 'In the country life of America there are moments when a woman can have recourse to nothing but her needle for employment. When one is in dull company and it is poor taste to read, or simply leave, the needle is a valuable resource.' (As cited in McLaughlin, p. 191) -- I hope this made you smile!
The Wooden Needle will be closed for the entire weekend May 20 -- 22.
Summer hours begin May 23:
Tuesday -- Friday 10:00 -- 5:00
Saturday 10:00 -- 4:00
As always, I thank you sincerely for your loyalty. Please call the shop before traveling any distance. At times I still must close without much notice and I don't want you to be inconvenienced.
Xrossing in Friendship,
Kathy
