Dear Friends,

As I write this the lilacs are blooming right outside my shop window.  The fragrance is glorious!  They brighten my day!  It is with great sadness that I share with you that my Mom died peacefully on May 9 with Dad and I by her side.  It was a long and difficult journey for my parents these past 5 years.  Mom was so strong and brave and Dad was her angel as he cared for her tirelessly.  My heartfelt thanks go to all of you for your patience and loyalty through the repeated unexpected closings of the shop.  After being closed for most of the past 3 months, I opened to countless phone messages and emails of prayers and support.  I was amazed at how many locals stopped in because they saw my flags displayed and the Green Mountain Chapter EGA managed to pay most of May's rent in one group visit!  Thank you from the bottom of my heart!  I am so grateful to my dear customers whom I now treasure as friends.

Stowe is ready for summer! The shops are sprucing up and a few new restaurants have opened.  The Wooden Needle is open summer hours and happy to welcome you back.   If you know when you will be visiting and need something in particular, give me a call and I'll try to order it for you.  Please realize that a special order can take at least 3 weeks.  For cross stitch remember to look at the Hoffman Distributor website.  Needlepointers can look at many of the designer's sites as they usually are willing to sell one canvas at a time and there are lots of luscious new canvases out there released at the May trade show.

Although I rarely get to sit at my sewing machine except to edge your linens or bind canvases, many of you know that I also love to quilt.  The Vermont Quilt Festival is June 27 - 29 and it's such a wonderful show.  By the way, I did buy myself a 60th birthday present -- a 1939 Singer Featherweight!  This all happened with the help of my personal Featherweight shopper, Suzy.  What fun!  I have lots of projects in mind!

It's summer so I know you must be thinking holiday finishing deadlines!  These are the dates that your needlepoint must be in the shop:
Halloween -- Sept. 30
Thanksgiving / Hanukah -- August 20
Christmas -- August 20
belts for Christmas --Oct. 31
